Description of a person I consider a “hero”:

I don’t have a specific person who I consider a “hero”. But maybe doctors, firefighters, some psychologists, people who donate (blood, organs) and some artists that make people happy, those are heros for me.

But if I have to write about a hero, I will chose my mom. A tall woman who has got blonde curly hair and some wrinkles in her face. She has got sparkling eyes and a warm smile. She usually wears casual clothes, but sometimes, she wears fashionable outfits.

As regards her personality, she is mature but funny. She is a chatty, very friendly and good-natured person. She gets mad or furious sometimes, but it’s because she is stressed of working around the clock.

She comes across as a strong , modest and friendly person. And she is like that.

She has changed my life because she is always helping me to solve problems especially, when I am going through bad moments, or when I am sad or without interest in anything. She is always helping people and everybody adores her.

The person that I consider a hero is Javier Zanetti. He was a famous football player. He has got short and straight hair, he hasn´t got not any earrings, nose-studs, freckles, or heavy make-up, but he has got some wrinkles due to age. In addition, his eyes are brown and he has got a big smile.

Speaking of his personality, he is a good natured person and he has got a big love for children. He is a happy person who got everything he proposed with great effort, a model to follow.

He has changed other people’s lives for the better because he created with other people a foundation that gives education and material things to poor children and their families. He helped them with money for their houses, he took children to different schools and gave them some toys or material things that they didn’t have.

From people's point of view, he is a good natured person and obviously a model to follow and we are proud of him.  Obviously the boys think that he was one of the best defender of the world in his time and one of the best Argentinean football players.

The hero of my life is my brother Ezequiel. When everything goes wrong, he makes it right.  He is a sporty and plain person. His hair is straight and shoulder length. I’m jealous of him because he has got freckles.

Although he is 18, he sometimes looks infantile, but in general terms, he is a mature person. Actually he is studying “public relations”. He is a knowledgeable person. He knows how to relax in a bad moment. Occasionally, he looks like a serious person but he is fun loving. I am proud of him because he is confident.

He didn’t change others lives (I think), only mine: When I was a child, I used to get bored easily. It was difficult for my parents to make me laugh, but when he was next to me, l used to be the happiest girl in the world. Ezequiel is the most important person in my childhood. We grew up together, so, now, we overcome problems side by side. My first year at secondary school was really hard for me. I was afraid of people, homework, exams and also of teachers. But he gave me a hand with everything. He used to teach me things from different subjects. Even this year he helps me with Maths.

People think he is full of himself because he has a successful life and does everything right. He has a lot of friends, he is very good at university and he is happy. He is one of the most important persons in my life, and I am proud of him

Nelson Mandela was a person who changed people's lives for the better in Africa. He wore sophisticated clothes, in speeches and lectures, and casual clothes, in his daily activities; and he seemed to be well-groomed. He was an elder man who had short, frizzy, black and grey hair. He used to wear chains and rings.

Nelson Mandela was a good-natured person. He was a man who cared about others first, because he fought all his life for the rights of people with black skin. He was also a sensible and righteous person because he looked for equal rights for people with fair skin and people with black skin.

He changed African people´s lives for the better. He was the first black skinned person to be in charge of the South African Executive power. He was also an activist against the apartheid (political regime and social process of discrimination) and he had a long struggle to get the evenness of rights for African people.

He was viewed by people as an ambitious man in terms of the search for justice for his country and continent. He won a Nobel Prize in 1993 for his peaceful struggle for the rights of people and achieving them. To sum up, he was a good-natured man who achieved his goals.

Portfolio n° 2: 

My hero is Javier Zanetti. He is tall and well built. He has got brown eyes and brown wavy hair. He is modest, ambitious, and good- natured because he created his foundation which helps a lot of kids in Buenos Aires every day.

The Fundation was created in 2001 by Zanetti and his wife Paula in Remedios de Escalada, the neighborhood where they had lived. Fundation Pupi tries to help poor kids, until the age of 14. It gives them food, and psychology support. It has a lot of deals with clubs in the southern area of Bs. As like Lanus Rugby Club, or Club Atletico Talleres. There, kids can make friends and stay away from drugs and violence.

I think that Zanetti is viewed as a good person because he is part of an NGO´s. He plays an important role in the community because hundreds of families stay calm, because their kids are away from the streets.

Portfolio 2: “Competition: Silent Heroes”

I know a person that has changed other people´s lives for the better. That person was Alexander Fleming.  He was born in 1881 in Scotland. But, he lived in London, England. He was very interested in science. He was impulsive, and sloppy. He had straight hair and he wore glasses.  

Alexander Fleming was a serious and good-natured person. He wore professional clothes because he worked as a doctor in St. Mary´s hospital in London. Alexander was helped by Winston Churchill in the First World War. Then Winston paid Alexander´s studies.  Fleming was a reserved person, however he accepted Winston´s proposal, and he paid Alexander ´s studies.

He discovered penicillin when he was working in his lab. This was the component of all the antibiotics. He was a hero, because doctors could use antibiotics to cure people and have a healthy life. It was a big advance in science. He could help poor people in Africa with antibiotics.

People don't take into account what Alexander Fleming ​​did. He helped everyone with his discovery. Doctors knew what he did, and he was viewed by them as a hero and a very important person in medicine. He died in 1995 in London.

My cousin Emily has got blonde straight hair. She is good - natured and outgoing because she has a lot of friends; she is slim because she eats healthy food and she is sporty as she loves playing sports. She went with her best friend everywhere. She was chatty and honest with her best friend Maria. They studied together for all the exams and they had top grades.

My cousin was studying to be a doctor and she worked at a supermarket but she hated her job, and for this reason she had always had discussions with her boss. She went to her job dressed with casual and trendy clothes.

One day Maria said to Emily that she was going to move to another country with her family. And Emily was annoying and bad with this news because she always went everywhere with her best friend.

Emily was sad for months, but then she but then she met friends and hung out with them. She often sees Maria and they hang out together two or three times a year.

Rick had always wanted to be a film producer, so he studied at the University of Cambridge. One day, he was recording films in Spain until a company from United States (in New York) called him for a job interview. He gained a lot of experience from working in different countries and different work environments. Before becoming a film producer, he had been an untidy person and he had worn scruffy clothes. He had had a simple and quiet life.  

    

When he came back to Argentina to visit his father one month ago, he looked totally different from the person he used to be. His eyes sparkled and they were full of life. He wore sophisticated clothes. He was very happy and proud of himself because he achieved his goals and he could exploit his skills.

But suddenly, he made new friends in New York and started partying at night. He changed his personality because he started to be careless of his job and he started to fail on it.  Finally, his boss fired him. He began to look for a new job, but nobody accepted him. He lost a lot of money and he wasn't friendly. He started to wear plain clothes again. His hair was untidy and he looked exhausted and his eyes were unfocused.

One day, Rick met a girl called Maria; she knew him when he was at the top of his professional career. She helped Rick to go forward again, and she gave him a new opportunity to keep producing films. Now, Rick hasn’t got fame, but he has a new friend, a good job and, finally, he has a happy life.

Portfolio n° 1:

Mariano was a participant in an extreme sport in the x games. He won the first price 5 times consecutively since 2009. Mariano was the illusion of Argentina’s x-games. He made everything with effort and for that reason, he was the best, but then everything changed.

In the last x-games, he had an accident when it was his turn. He fell out of a mountain with his motorbike. He broke his left arm and his two legs and lost his memory. The ambulance arrived late to the place where the accident was caused. Since that day, he has been in a wheelchair because can’t move.

That was when he decided to take a leap into the unknown.  He resigned from the extreme sport and took a job training people who have disabilities. People thought he was crazy to throw away his dream job, but he couldn’t do anything because of his disability.

First, when he started his new job all the people saw he was sad but I saw him last week and the transformation left me speechless. He looks ten years younger and he has the spring in his step, which reminds me of his younger years. His eyes sparkled and he couldn’t stop smiling as he told me about the places he had seen and the people he had helped. I never expected he’d be brave enough to change everything, but it was the best decision of his life.

My neighbour Luke, lives two houses from mine. I’ve known him since we were 15. He has got blonde spiky hair, he is tall and fit. His sparkling eyes, freckles and his warm smile make his face look like an angel. As regards his personality, he was a good natured, fun-loving and outgoing person, who loved spending time with his friends after school.

He had a small family, his mum, his dad and his little sister. They were very closed and they got on well with each other. One day the family decided to go on a trip but Luke wanted to stay with his friends, and his parents had no problem with that. The following day of the trip an unexpected event happened…

The police told him that his family had crashed and died. This situation hurt him so much. He was under-eighteen, and he couldn’t live alone. So he had to move with the rest of the family to France. Over the months, his life was very difficult. He couldn’t speak the language very well so he didn’t speak too much with his schoolmates. He wore scruffy clothes, his eyes looked a bit lost and he became very reserved.

I haven't seen him since he came back to the old house. We have never been friends before but now we are very good neighbours. He has changed a lot since the last time I heard of him. He has found love, a girl that can make him forget all the pain. He has made new friends from university. He wears smart clothes because he has been working in a office. He is making a new life.

My aunt Josefa is blond and thin. Her appearance was rather sloppy, but she was a good natured and funny person.  She was a great student at high school too. After that she studied medicine at UBA, and she finished the career with top grades. She started to work at Gandulfo Hospital. She seemed destined for great success, but then everything changed.

She was very stressed.  Her eyes were unfocused and her face was grey, because she was working around the clock, day in, day out. She was very unhappy, because she couldn’t see her children playing football. One day, when she was driving along Maximo Paz, she turned to the left, but my aunt didn’t see the truck in front of her.

She crashed and almost broke her knee. She went to the hospital in order to get radiography of her knee. Some days later, the doctors saw something strange in her body. They discovered that she had cancer, so she went through a surgery to remove the tumour. Luckily, the surgery was successful.

Now she is really happy, she only works during the week and has all the weekend free to be with  her family. She has the spring in her step. Her life has changed a lot since her accident in January.
